Special Announcement

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Community Members,

After much reflection, I have made the very difficult decision to withdraw from the race for Cape Coral City Council District 1. My job responsibilities have recently undergone a change that requires my full attention, and I am confident that this role and this campaign deserve nothing less than complete dedication.

It has been an honor to connect with so many of you, hear your concerns, and share my vision for our community. I am deeply grateful for your support, encouragement, and trust throughout this journey. While I will not be continuing as a candidate, I remain committed to our city and will continue to contribute where I can to make Cape Coral a stronger, safer, and more vibrant place for all.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your understanding and for believing in me.

With gratitude,

Monica Shintani

Still asking the hard questions.

Still Here

"Withdrawing from the race does not mean withdrawing from this city. Cape Coral is my home. You are my neighbors. And that doesn't change."

Thank you for every signature, every share, every kind word, and every moment of trust you gave this campaign. You reminded me why Cape Coral is worth fighting for.

Here is the thing!

Diverse group stacking hands in unity and teamwork outdoors. Grassroots campaign + community values.

We're In This Together

Regardless of our politics, we all desire to live in a safe, beautiful, and well-run city like Cape Coral. This vision includes protecting our homes, our water, our future, and our way of life.

Ground Zero

District 1, stands in Flood Zone 1 — the most at-risk area in Cape Coral. That’s not just a FEMA map; it’s your front yard, your insurance bill, and your peace of mind. Remember Hurricane Ian?

Smart Growth, Not Just More Growth

Cape Coral is experiencing rapid growth, but without common-sense planning from the Cape Coral City Council, we risk putting families in jeopardy. I will focus on smart development.

Cape Coral Traffic is bad. Del Prado, Veterans, Midpoint, and College Pkwy bridges. We need change.

Time and Traffic

Anyone driving across the bridges during rush hour knows that Cape Coral’s traffic is a daily frustration, impacting our quality of life. Whether it’s the Cape Coral Bridge or the Midpoint, we’re stuck in bottlenecks with no clear plan to ease the pressure, despite discussions among the Cape Coral City Council. Public Transportation is a must and I will propose free bus passes for retirees and students.

Some Information about Monica

Authentic, Lived Experience

Community First Values, and Local Appeal

Tech-Savvy, Community-Focused

  • As a woman, immigrant, and longtime U.S. citizen who has lived in Florida for over 13 years, I am proud to be running for the Cape Coral City Council in the District 1 election.
  • With a background in computer science, I am uniquely equipped to bring modern solutions and digital transparency to local governance.
  • As a full-time resident, I understand the local economic challenges that working families and entrepreneurs face, which is why I am committed to a grassroots campaign focused on addressing these issues.

Tech-Savvy, Community-Focused

Community First Values, and Local Appeal

Tech-Savvy, Community-Focused

  • I work for a major financial technology (fintech) company, where I help solve complex problems that affect thousands of people.
  • I will bring this same approach to the Cape Coral City Council—analyzing issues, identifying real solutions, and improving systems for everyone.
  • I'm not running to play politics—I'm running to get things done. I understand data, efficiency, and innovation—skills often missing from local councils.

Community First Values, and Local Appeal

Community First Values, and Local Appeal

Community First Values, and Local Appeal

  • I believe in healthy, safe, secure, and prosperous communities—core values that transcend party lines. We must ensure our city is prepared against storms and flooding, especially in District 1, which is located in Flood Zone 1.
  • We need pragmatic solutions, and we must start implementing them now.
  • I stood firmly with residents in opposing the City’s proposal for Jaycee Park. The plan moved forward despite overwhelming public concern, and the city failed to listen to the people most affected—local families. Public spaces should be shaped with the community, common sense, and respect for the future, not against it.

Community First Values, and Local Appeal

  • No dark money! Neighbors, working and retired families, small business owners, people like you and me, support my campaign.
  • This is a grassroots campaign, and with your support, we can win District 1.

Unapologetically People-First

Powered by Neighbors, Not Developers

Unapologetically People-First

  • I understand the challenges of rising costs, storm recovery, and staying afloat as a working family in our community.
  • My experience as a neighbor and entrepreneur keeps me grounded in what matters most to residents of Cape Coral.
  • I am not a career politician; I am running a grassroots campaign for the Cape Coral City Council to empower residents, not special interests.
  • My goal is to protect what makes Cape Coral livable and ensure that everyone can thrive, regardless of their background.

A Fresh Voice

Powered by Neighbors, Not Developers

Unapologetically People-First

  • I bring a compassionate, clear-eyed, and strong voice to the Cape Coral City Council.
  • My approach respects the community’s traditions while being unafraid to advocate for progress.

As a hardworking single professional, I've seen Cape Coral's struggles. I'm running to address unaffordable housing, reckless development, traffic, high taxes, and lack of transparency. It's time for change.
